On June 25th, IMPOWER and Brevard Family Partnership celebrated the new graduates of our recently held Child Welfare Pre-Service Training Class. The six-week long course for new case managers prepares staff to provide exceptional dependency case management services to Brevard’s at risk children. The training covers topics such as legal requirements related to child welfare, maltreatment identification, case planning, family team conferencing, dependency court process, child safety and family preservation. A total of 22 staff began the class; 21 of which have earned provisional certification and will continue to the second and final phase of certification. They will have a maximum of 12 months to complete the next required steps to earn full child welfare certification.
The Child Welfare Case Management Certification designation is a professional credential for individuals who provide case management services to children who are receiving voluntary or court ordered services in response to findings of child abuse, neglect, abandonment or threatened harm. New graduates will carry a protected caseload and receive individual and ongoing support during their provisional status. Our new team members are eager to work toward certification, to learn our system of care and begin working with children, families and community members. IMPOWER is excited to welcome them to our existing Case Management team and offers our congratulations!
