Internship Opportunities
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTERN
Education: Pursuing a BSW or MSW (generalist)
Skills and Attributes: Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for working with children and families. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Observe and directly engage with youth, parents, caregivers and other stakeholders to assess children in need of foster care placement. Help identify community resources to meet the needs of youth and their families and/or caregivers to stabilize placement and/or achieve permanency. Review of clinical records and correspondence with providers and insurance providers and opportunities to coordinate care for children and families.
Location: Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
CHILD WELFARE/DEPENDENCY CASE MANAGEMENT INTERN
Education: Pursuing a degree in human services or a related field.
Skills and Attributes: Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Culturally competent with an interest in helping children and families succeed in maintaining a safe, stable and healthy life. Utilize a family centered strength-based approach. Able to maintain confidentiality and have effective communication skills. Ability to travel to client residences, court or other community locations.
Functions: Work with designated case management staff to shadow various job functions, including supervising family time between children and parents, completing home visits, and attending court or child appointments. Assist with detailed documentation of observed events and contacts.

DEVELOPMENT AND ENGAGEMENT INTERN
Education: Pursuing a degree in social sciences, community development, nonprofit management or a related field.
Skills and Attributes: Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms. Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for community service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating community events and initiatives. Assist in organizing and executing agency and community events, provide administrative support and assist with recruiting new donors/sponsors.
Location: Brevard, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN
Education: Working toward a degree in graphic design/marketing/communication.
Skills and Attributes: Strong graphic design and project management skills. Experience using Adobe InDesign, Canva and Photoshop preferred. Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for community service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Assist in designing and updating a variety of communications and marketing materials to reflect the organization’s new brand. Also assist in creating and/or sourcing graphics and images to accompany social media and website posts.
Location: Orange, Osceola or Seminole counties.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Education: Working toward a degree in journalism/marketing/communication/public relations.
Skills and Attributes: Strong writing background, with the ability to produce content and messaging for a variety of mediums. Social media savvy. Strong project management skills. Familiar with AP Style. Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for community service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Assist in producing content for feature stories, marketing and communications materials, email blasts and other messaging. Also assist in creating and scheduling social media posts and maintaining the organization’s content calendar.
Location: Orange, Osceola or Seminole counties.
PREVENTION AND DIVERSION INTERN
Education: Pursuing a degree in human services or a related field (examples: social work, criminal justice, psychology, sociology).
Skills and Attributes: Flexible schedule, good written and verbal communication skills, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and proactive with a passion for community service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Engaging and assisting families, making referrals for services, and supporting and locating new community connections/partners.
Locations: Brevard, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties.
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INTERN
Education: Pursuing a degree in instructional design or a related field.
Skills and Attributes: Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with learning management programs. Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for training creation. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating child welfare training for adult learners. Assist in organizing and executing training events, provide administrative support, and assist with certificates of completion.
Location: Brevard and Orange counties.
TRAINING INTERN, NATIONAL CENTER FOR INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE
Education: Pursuing a degree in social sciences, community development, nonprofit management or a related field.
Skills and Attributes: Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms. Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for customer service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Assist in the review of students’ assignments for High Fidelity Wraparound. Serve as the point of contact for external customers to help resolve issues, such as gaining access to the learning management platform. Assist in developing new curriculum.
Location: Hybrid Virtual/Brevard County.
YOUTH SERVICES INTERN
Education: BSW, MSW generalist, BS education support, BS or masters ESE
Skills and Attributes: Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and time management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Enthusiastic, detail-oriented and proactive with a passion for working with teens. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Functions: Coordinate and facilitate one-on-one meetings with youth ages 13-17 to review and complete age-appropriate independent living tasks. Document and communicate meeting outcomes in statewide database and complete and/or refer youth to resources for identified needs.
