The Fatherhood Engagement Program was created as part of a state-funded initiative designed to strengthen father involvement within Florida’s child welfare system. This is a statewide program, with positions located in every Community-Based Care (CBC) lead agency across the state. The program was developed and designed to support case management by engaging and empowering fathers involved in the dependency process, ensuring they are active participants in their children’s lives.

24/7 Dad® Curriculum

A key component of the program is the 24/7 Dad® Curriculum, a 12-session, evidence-based program specifically designed for fathers.

This curriculum is utilized nationwide by organizations, community programs, and agencies to strengthen fatherhood engagement.

The program focuses on empowering fathers in all aspects of parenting, including effective co-parenting with mothers, positive discipline, emotional regulation, and building healthy father-child relationships.

Direct Father Engagement

The specialist’s approach is centered on meeting fathers where they are, which can include:

  • Joint home visits with case management to the father’s residence.
  • Jail visits or virtual meetings for incarcerated fathers.
  • Community-based meetings in neutral settings for open discussion and resource linkage.

These personalized engagements build trust and accountability, allowing the specialist to address challenges directly and strengthen the father’s connection to his children and case plan.

Upon successful completion of all 12 sessions, fathers receive a Certificate of Completion, which can be included in their case documentation as evidence of active
participation and progress toward reunification. The curriculum not only builds parenting skills but also enhances fathers’ confidence, communication, and consistency, which are essential to long-term family stability.
