October 17, 2011 – In an effort to raise awareness of the many children in Brevard County available for adoption and in recognition of National Adoption Month, Brevard Family Partnership, in partnership with the Avenue Vierawill host its sixth annual “Walk for Love” on Saturday, November 19. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The walk will begin and end at the Courtyard in the Avenue Viera. Over 400 adoptive families, residents from throughout Brevard, business and community leaders, Brevard Family Partnership staff members, and child and family service providers are expected to participate.
The public is invited to join and there is no charge. Advance registration is required. Donations to support programs for adoptive families in Brevard are welcome. Lunch will be provided for all participants upon completion. Entertainment and children’s activities, including a bounce house and face painting will be featured before and after the event. Local adoption service providers will also be on hand to answer questions and provide information.
Since 2005, Brevard Family Partnership has helped place over 460 children in “forever homes” with loving families; from July 2010 through June 2011 – the agency’s last fiscal year – BFP placed 59 children with “forever families.” Each year, according to the Administration for Children and Families, more than 129,000 children are available for adoption throughout the U.S.
